Temple du Hâ

Originally, this was the former chapel of the convent of the Daughters of Our Lady, a congregation founded in 1608 by the niece of Michel de Montaigne, Jeanne de Lestonnac (1556- 1640), to educate the young daughters of the nobility and the bourgeoisie.
It was built in 1625-1626 in a Baroque style by the master builder from Bordeaux, Henri Roche. Closed and deconsecrated during the French Revolution, this chapel was consecrated as a Protestant place of worship in 1805.
Jeanne de Lestonnac was canonised in 1956.
