Church of Saint-Louis des Chartrons

The church was built on the site of the former chapel of the convent of Barefoot Carmelites built in the 17th century.
A new church project was planned in the 18th century but was not successful.
The current church was built in a neo-Gothic style inspired by the architectural theories of Eugène Viollet-le-Duc (1814-1879) by Charles Brun between 1874 and 1880.
It holds some precious fixtures and fittings, the remains of the former Carmelite chapel (pulpit, confessionals, wood panelling from the sacristy). The statues in the choir and the altars of the Virgin and the Sacred Heart are the work of the Bordeaux decorator Bernard Jabouin.
