BORDEAUX OCEAN PORT (4/8)

Place Buscaillet

 Archives municipales de Bordeaux
XXVIII N 4

The plan for the crèche and public baths on Place Buscaillet, was drawn up by Pierre Ferret in 1934. The buildings were opened in 1937. At the end of the square, Ferret placed one pavilion, allocated as a dispensary and crèche, and a second housing the public baths.  He located a children's garden between the two. The school on the Rue de New-York (demolished) marked the end of this complex.
The modern aesthetic prevailed. The only decorative elements are the wrought-iron railings and the medallion showing the arms of Bordeaux, as well as the bas-reliefs depicting toys.
