BORDEAUX OCEAN PORT (7/8)
Richelieu Pavilion
Archives municipales de Bordeaux
XXVIII E 2 rec 40
This pavilion was originally located on the river but building work due to the silting up of the Garonne in 1885 moved it further away by almost 250m. The estate of the Croix-Maron thus found itself in the middle of industrial influences and was sold to be transformed into a shipyard.
The pavilion included an open living-room on the ground floor with large openings on three façades. The side windows were topped with a bas-relief decorated with sculptures.
This ruined "folly" is the only evidence of 18th century garden and pleasure palace architecture in the modern-day industrial landscape of Bacalan.
