BORDEAUX OCEAN PORT (8/8)
Naval food supply storehouses

The engineer Joseph Teulère designed this building in 1785. Its purpose was the manufacture, packaging and storage of food for the Royal Navy. The huge premises were spread around five large courtyards. Most did not offer any aesthetic value, apart from their extraordinary structure.
The first part combines semi-circular and rectangular bays topped with a triangular pediment. The complex is crowned by an attic. The wings with bossage walls alternate with semi-circular bays and oculi. They are later than the main building and were used for killing livestock.
