Orléans Station

Currently occupied by a cinema complex designed in 1999 by the architect Luc Arsène-Henri, Orléans station was built in the late 1840s by the engineer Daru and the architect of the Compagnie d'Orléans, Pépin-Le-Haleur. Opened in 1852, it was, at that time, the terminus of the railway line linking Paris to Bordeaux.

Closed in the mid-20th century, this characteristic example of railway architecture inspired by the Gare de l'Est in Paris, had deteriorated considerably and was the victim of vandalism and fire before being salvaged and transformed.
