The Bordeaux Fine Arts Museum, founded in 1801 upon the initiative of the consul Bonaparte, is one of the oldest in France. The galleries, connected by a railing, form a framework enhancing the rear façade of the Palais Rohan.

The collections from the State, amplified by donations and purchases, offer a wide, representative overview of the different schools of European painting from the Renaissance to the present day, with works by Titian, Rubens, Van Dyck, Chardin, Delacroix, Redon, Matisse…
