The development of the refinery was particularly important in Bacalan during the inter-war period. Louis Augereau, an architect, built the offices and staff accommodation in 1925.
Each bay of the main façade corresponds to the function of the interior space: a high bay for the entrance and staircase; wide semi-circular bays on the ground floor; a play of single, double and triple bays for the offices. The contrasting texture of the materials of the foundations, the stone framework, and the rustic filling devices accentuate the organic appearance of the building.
