FROM ONE BANK TO THE OTHER (8/8)

Caserne de la Benauge barracks

The post-war expansion of the right bank justified the construction of the Caserne de la Benauge barracks, completed in 1954. Claude Ferret mixes the lessons of Le Corbusier, of French functionalism and contemporary Brazilian architecture here.
The main building housed the staff accommodation and hides a courtyard around which the barracks' facilities are arranged.
Perfectly integrated into its environment, the complex skilfully bears witness to the modernity of the architecture and the urbanism of Bordeaux in this period.
