A plan to replace the ancient Berry door existed in the 18th century but was never realised. Improvements to the parish and the square of Sainte-Eulalie church were nevertheless numerous, especially in the 19th century. The cemetery was abolished after 1794. A porch built by Poitevin in 1828 enlivened the entrance to the church, the nave of which was extended in the early 20th century. The bell tower was reconstructed in 1863-1864 by the architect Gustave Alaux.
The current appearance of the square is linked to the construction of the Rue du Commandant-Arnoult, during the Second Empire, intended to link Sainte-Eulalie to the archbishop's palace. The landscape of Place Sainte-Eulalie is characterised by the presence of random and overlapping elements that give it its current charm.
